Today (16th January) Sophie Howe and Sue Essex AM joined the Welsh Assembly Culture Minister Alun Pugh at Heath Pitch and Putt golf course.
The Assembly Government has given £60,000 to the Heath Park Pitch and Putt course for improvements to the 12-hole course. The new upgraded course will specifically target junior players. The grant was awarded as part of the Assembly's Ryder Cup legacy fund, to encourage the playing of golf at the grassroots level and to widen participation ahead of the tournament.
The Heath Park course has been a popular venue for families since it was opened in 1969 and both Sophie and Sue are pleased the Assembly has decided to invest in its future. It is a welcome boot for the area and will benefit local families.
Also on the course today were pupils from local Allensbank Primary School. They were participating in a golf lesson and the damp weather didn't seem to bother them.
